Color Weekend - Saturday

Long-time residents and valley newcomers alike look forward to celebrating Colorado’s famous September colors each year! Powderhorn invites you to experience the fall colors from the mountain at Color Weekend 2021. Join us for one last great weekend of biking and sightseeing. Experience the fall festivities on the vibrant Grand Mesa. Take a scenic chair ride on the Flat Top Flyer, explore on foot, or ride your bike down one of Powderhorn’s downhill trails.

Before and after your time on the slopes, relax and enjoy the party at the base! The Sunset Bar and Grill will be serving curated food and beverage options, and enjoy performances by Wave 11 & The Kendallites.

We want everyone who attends to enjoy the ride, not the line. To mitigate wait times, we have a limited number of lift rides available each hour. Here’s how it works:

• Pre-purchase your lift ticket by using the he link at the top of this page. We have full day lift passes and single-ride tickets assigned to a one-hour ride window; order now before slots fill up! Kids 5 & under ride free with the purchase of an adult lift ticket. Kids must be able to approach the chairlift and load/unload with minimal assistance from parents. Per Colorado law, kids in backpacks or front carriers are not permitted to ride the chairlift. 

• Plan your arrival for at least 30 minutes before your scheduled lift ride. Check in at the Powderhorn tent in the lower parking lot, where we will verify your purchase and print your lift tickets. Make sure your email confirmation is printed or saved on your mobile device; service can be unreliable.

• Park your car, grab your gear, and head to the Sunset Deck! When your scheduled time comes, you can head up the mountain any time during the hour. From the top of the mountain, you will be able to hike, bike, or ride back down. Enjoy the scenery!

Saturday Event Schedule:

9:30 AM: Registration begins for first hour riders

10:00 AM: Flat Top Flyer opens, Scenic Lift Rides and Bike Park

10:30 AM-4:30 PM: Kids Bounce House

3:30 PM: Scenic Lift Rides end

1:00 PM-4:00 PM: Music by Chase Milham

 4:00 PM: Bike Park closes

Enjoy the mountain safely – Here are a few helpful tips to make the most of Color Weekend.

• Be PREPARED! Colorado weather can be unpredictable. Here are a few things we suggest bringing with you: rain gear, good shoes, appropriate clothing, and plenty of water. Remember, when taking a scenic lift ride, you must get off the lift at the top of the mountain, there is often a line to get back on the lift to ride back down, be prepared for a wait. If you choose to bring food or snacks, please remember to pack out all trash. There are trash and recycling cans placed around the base area and top terminal. 

• Be SAFE! Because we have foot and bicycle traffic on the mountain, be aware of your surroundings and the people with you at all times. Going off designated hiking or biking trails can be dangerous, if you’ve got kids, remind them to stick with an adult! 

• Be RESPECTFUL! Bikers and hikers will have separate loading lines at the lift in order to get all visitors up the mountain as efficiently as possible. Remember to stop and look both ways at trail crossings and let everyone enjoy the mountain at their own pace. At the base area, WALK YOUR BIKE.

Violation of Powderhorn rules may result in removal from the event. Be safe, have fun, and we’ll see you here!
