Racer Rules:
- Racers have priority access to the lift through a dedicated racer lane on the west side of the Flat Top Flyer. With great privilege, comes great responsibility. This means that all racers must be respectful of the general public. Any jockeying for a chairlift seat, negative comments to public, or other bad behavior (you know what this means) will result in immediate disqualification. DQ’s are entirely subject to Powderhorn event staff discretion.
- Helmets are required to race.
- Racer position at the beginning of the day will be determined by order of registration. If you want first chair, sign up first. There will be no accommodations made for late arrivals. The lift will open and the race will begin at 9am.
- Pee happens. If you need to stop for a break, we ask that you use the lodge restrooms or porta johns at the top of the Flat Top Flyer. Do not relieve yourself in view of public or other competitors.
- You must remain in control throughout the day. Any out-of-control skiers will be disqualified. DQ’s are entirely subject to Powderhorn event staff.
- Runs are counted by Powderhorn event staff positioned at the top, middle, and bottom of the run. After the event, each station will compare lap numbers for accuracy. Make sure your bib is positioned so that event staff can read your number. It is common for racers to call out their number as they pass each station, this helps staff when racers are grouped together.
- Appeals will not be considered. Event staff will use the manual counts collected throughout the day to determine total laps. Individual racer Strava or other tracking apps will not be considered as official lap counts.
- In the event of a tie in the total number of runs, the first person through the finish line at the bottom of the course will be crowned King and Queen of the Mountain.
- This event is about bragging rights, not cash or prizes. However, there are prizes allotted for the top male and female competitor. The remainder of the field will have the opportunity for a bib draw after the King and Queen are crowned.
- You will need to purchase a $64 racer ticket at the ticket office day of the event if you don't already have a season pass.
